Taking the first step: How healing will your Lent...
What victory do you need? What needs to be resurrected in your life? For Easter to be more than just a day of colored eggs, fattening chocolates and big dinners, Lent needs to be more than just 40 days of obligatory sacrifices like meatless pizza on Fridays. To experience the joy and power of resurrection, we have to experience the power of mourning and repentance. We have to experience the...

msbubbles:   And, what’s the problem? Well, Catholics consider paying for those things sinful. So they are flaming mad at Obama. And Catholic priests have been reading a letter to almost all Catholics at church promising that the Church “cannot–and will not–obey this unjust law.” This is pretty much unprecedented.  […] Why is this a big deal though? This is a minority issue, no?  Well not...

good news reflection.
Are you tired? Burnt out? This might be a sign that your priorities are wrong. If you’re worn out from ministering to others, perhaps you’re not giving yourself enough time to be ministered to. We cannot give to others what we have not received. Our top priority must be our relationship with God; it’s from this that we receive everything else we need. Making God our top...

iam3rd: bethmeetsworld: badwolfcomplex: So says a couple of secular journalists in Business Insider article with the greatest title ever: Time to Admit it: The Church Has Always Been Right On Birth Control. Here’s a taste: Painting the Catholic Church as “out of touch” is like shooting fish in a barrel, what with the funny hats and gilded churches. And nothing makes it easier than the...

Why Arts Education is Crucial →
“Art does not solve problems, but makes us aware of their existence,” sculptor Magdalena Abakanowicz has said. Arts education, on the other hand, does solve problems. Years of research show that it’s closely linked to almost everything that we as a nation say we want for our children and demand from our schools: academic achievement, social and emotional development, civic...

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1490637/ “Follow filmmaker Jeremy Seifert and his circle of friends as they dumpster dive in the back alleys and gated garbage receptacles of L.A.’s supermarkets. In the process they uncover thousands of dollars worth of good food and an ugly truth about waste in America: grocery stores know they are wasting and most refuse to do anything about it.” ...

Why We Should Care About the HHS Mandate →
“Because contraception and health care insurance is just one part of the issue, the other has to do with the deliberate stripping of Catholic’s civil liberties. This mandate is directed specifically at Catholics and is seeped with religious intolerance. We are simply asking that we be respected enough to live our faith without moral compromise and government intervention. I believe the term...

First off, let’s check out the West Coast Rally for Reproductive Justice: I can’t believe I get suckered by these people into showing up for these things. 80 people and a couple of tables with brochures. back to business.
Got back to Laguna Beach around 8:30 :( the drive was good, caught up with my roomie. Had super sleepy eyes though and I didn’t drive for too long. It’s good to be back, I’m ready to do work, but I also had the best winter break ever so of course it’s hard to leave home.  I have my first Maya class tomorrow morning, we’ll see how that goes. time to knock. out.

This video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IAhDGYlpqY&feature=player_embedded) is frustrating on so many levels.  I feel like I’ve been textually shouting till I’m blue in the face on my blogs and online platforms for years, talking about how “religion” doesn’t mean what most people who hate it *think* it means.  Religion is defined as a...
